Offense:

The offense will be led by senior quarterback Rudy Carpenter (2007: 3,202 yards).  Carpenter spent a good deal of time on his back in 2007 as the Sun Devil offensive line gave up 55 sacks.  The 2008 line may not be much better at protecting Carpenter, as they Sun Devils return 2 starting offensive linemen.  Running back Keegan Herring returns at after rushing for 815 yards in 2007.

Defense:

The defense returns 7 starters from 2007.  Defensive ends Luis Vasquez and Dexter Davis combined for 15 sacks and 25 tackles for los in 2007.  The Sun Devils should put some pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Special Teams:

The Sun Devils return their starting punter and kicker.

Overview:

Arizona State benefited from a relatively easy schedule in 2007 as they had 8 home games.  The Sun Devils look to start he season ranked somewhere between 14-20.  They should once again benefit from their schedule as they have 7 home games (including games against perennial powers UNLV and Northern Arizona.  The September 20th home game against Georgia will be the first test for Arizona State.
