Stadium Overview: It is tough to provide an overview of this stadium since it is the only Pac-10 venue that I have not been to. I will be travelling to Tucson to see Cal play Arizona on October 18th. Lets hope the Wildcats fans are not as obnoxious as many of the Arizona State fans we encountered in Tempe last season. |

Interesting Fact: Painted on the field is the University of Arizona motto
Student body president John "Button" Salmon was critically injured in a car wreck on Oct. 3, 1926 while returning from a weekend in Phoenix with two friends. The day before the Wildcat quarterback died two weeks later, he told then head coach J.F. "Pop" McKale in a Tucson hospital, "Tell them... tell the team to bear down." Following Salmon's funeral, McKale reportedly told the team what he had said in a Las Cruces, N.M., locker room before a football game against the Aggies of New Mexico State, and UA won a hard-fought victory, 7-0. Within a short time, Salmon's exhortation to "bear down" became a rallying cry for Wildcat teams. |
